Fidelity Bank MD Not Listed In Court Charges Over Woobs Resources Fraud

A DOCUMENT from the Federal High Court in Lagos has refuted claims that Dr Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe, Managing Director of Fidelity Bank Plc, was among the individuals charged in connection with an alleged fraud involving Woobs Resources.

Contrary to reports published by Sahara Reporters on 25 June 2025, a court charge sheet dated 12 May 2025 and sighted by this reporter confirms that only four defendants were formally listed: Victor Ukutt, Esq., Fidelity Bank Plc, Whoba Ugwunna Ogo, and Safiya Whoba. Dr Onyeali-Ikpe’s name does not appear in the amended information presented before the court.

The Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Hon Abubakar Malami (SAN), had earlier clarified this in a 9 June 2025 statement, stressing that Dr Onyeali-Ikpe was not the account officer or Managing Director at the time the fraudulent Woobs Resources account was opened.

Her name, initially associated with the case in speculative reports, had been officially struck off the list of parties involved.

The bank’s confirmation is said to now settle misinformation surrounding her alleged involvement in the matter, reaffirming the court’s formal charge and the Attorney General’s clarification.

A statement issued by the bank notes that proceedings continue against the four named defendants under Sections 104 and 379 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015.
