GOVERNOR SIMINALAYI Fubara has reaffirmed his commitment to delivering impactful projects that improve the lives of Rivers State residents.

He spole on Friday during the commissioning of the remodelled Government Girls’ Secondary School in Ahoada East Local Government Area, where he highlighted the importance of education as a cornerstone of his administration’s agenda.

The school, which had been abandoned by previous administrations, underwent extensive reconstruction by three contractors.

The facility now boasts modern amenities, including 24 classrooms, science laboratories, a library, an assembly hall, administrative offices, staff quarters, and recreational facilities.

The reconstruction was completed by Mcaretrace Nigeria Limited, Azunda International Company Nigeria Limited, and Ketdeg Ventures under the supervision of the Ministry of Education.

Governor Fubara emphasised his administration’s commitment to long-lasting, strategic projects, citing the completion of the 11.8 km Okehi-Umuola-Eberi link road connecting Omuma and Etche LGAs as an example.

He pledged to address pending infrastructure needs, including a 1 km stretch of road and a bridge in Omuma LGA.

Dr Ovy Chukwuma, Commissioner for Education, lauded the remodelled school as a transformative step in empowering the girl child, equipping them with the resources to become responsible citizens.

Chibudom Ezu, Chairman of Ahoada East LGA, expressed gratitude, describing the intervention as a much-needed solution to the school’s long-standing neglect.

Governor Fubara also acknowledged the contributions of traditional leaders in Ekpeye and assured them of continued recognition.

He promised to re-award contracts for abandoned road projects to ensure quality delivery.

Representing the contractors, Engr. Azubuike Odum commended the governor for prioritising local firms and adhering to project timelines.

The new school, once a haven for miscreants, is now poised to inspire academic excellence and community development.
