STRONGER COLLABORATION between government, industry and educational institutions has been urged by JMG Limited to equip young Nigerians with future ready skills that will drive innovation, enhance employability and accelerate sustainable economic growth.
JKNewsMedia.com reports that the company made the call to mark World Youth Skills Day 2026, observed annually on July 15.
This year’s theme, “Skills for a Shared Future,” according to a statement issued, highlights the importance of equipping young people with the technical, digital, artificial intelligence, green and human skills needed to thrive in an increasingly dynamic job market.
JMG also highlighted its commitment to developing future ready skills by opening its facilities to students for immersive, real world learning experiences.
The company also hosted engineering students from the University of Lagos (UNILAG) in March 2026 for an educational tour of its Gbagada facility to commemorate World Engineering Day (WED).
Guided by the JMG Engineering Team (GET), the students explored key production processes and gained practical insights into how engineering innovation drives sustainable industrial development.
Also, as part of its 2026 Children’s Day celebrations, JMG also welcomed science students from Wellspring College for an industrial tour of the same facility.
Its production team also took the students through assembly and production processes, exposing them to engineering systems, manufacturing workflows and operational procedures.
JMG said the initiatives also reflect its ongoing effort to bridge the gap between classroom theory and industrial practice while nurturing the next generation of engineers and technology professionals.
Chief Human Resources Officer, Gloria Ibeziako, said preparing young people for the future requires deliberate investment in skills development and stronger partnerships between education and industry.
“The future of every economy depends on the quality of its people. As technology continues to reshape industries, we must ensure that young people are equipped not only with technical knowledge but also with the digital, problem solving and collaborative skills that will enable them to compete and succeed anywhere in the world.”
She also said emerging technologies are transforming workplaces while creating new opportunities for young people willing to embrace continuous learning and innovation.
“Businesses have an important role to play in developing the next generation of professionals. Beyond creating jobs, organisations should support practical learning through mentorship, workplace exposure and technical training that bridge the gap between education and industry.”
Ibeziako said empowering young people with relevant skills is essential to strengthening Nigeria’s industrial capacity and unlocking long term economic prosperity.
“Skills development is not just an investment in individuals; it is an investment in national progress. By nurturing a workforce that is innovative, adaptable and future focused, we are laying the foundation for stronger industries, more resilient businesses and shared prosperity.”
JMG added that building a future ready workforce requires sustained collaboration between the public and private sectors to ensure young people have access to opportunities that prepare them for the demands of an evolving global economy.
Also, the company said it will continue to champion innovation, technical excellence and partnerships that equip the next generation with the knowledge and opportunities to succeed in an ever-evolving world.
