ILLEGAL ESTATE developments operating without layout approvals across Eti-Osa, Ajah, Ibeju-Lekki, and Epe face imminent sanctions as the Lagos State Government (LASG) launches a fresh enforcement drive to uphold urban planning regulations.
A total of 176 estates were flagged after a comprehensive audit by the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry on Monday, the affected estates failed to secure mandatory layout approvals, violating the framework for sustainable development under the state’s T.H.E.M.E.S+Agenda.
Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Engr. Oluwole Sotire, warned that continued non-compliance compromises the orderly growth of Lagos as a smart and resilient city.
“The estates in question are operating without approved layouts, thereby compromising the orderly development of the state,” Sotire said, reiterating the Ministry’s statutory mandate to regulate land use through structured estate planning.
Among the estates identified are Adron Homes in Elerangbe, Aina Gold Estate in Okun-Folu, Diamond Estate in Eputu, Prime Water View Garden in Ikate-Elegushi, and Royal View Estate in Ikota.
The Ministry has directed developers and promoters of all listed estates to report to its office at the State Secretariat in Alausa, Ikeja, within 21 days to commence the process of regularising their documentation.
Sotire clarified that the audit exercise was a routine regulatory function and urged all real estate operators to register with the Lagos State Real Estate Regulatory Authority (LASRERA) for enhanced oversight and coordination within the sector.
Failure to comply within the stipulated timeframe, the government warned, would attract sanctions in accordance with extant planning laws guiding estate development in Lagos State.
