UNITED STATES First Lady Melania Trump has unveiled Fostering the Future Together, a coalition of nations dedicated to strengthening children’s well-being through education, innovation, and technology.
The U.S. First Lady outlined the mission of the initiative as “to ensure that every child can flourish in the digital era.”
She stressed the positive impact of technology, stating, “Innovation is wonderful. Our nations benefit from advancements in technology – saving lives, expanding access to knowledge, connecting people, and of course, safety.”
Reinforcing her vision to place children at the centre of progress in technology and education, Mrs Trump highlighted the power of human creativity in shaping the modern world.
“Great minds have turned marbles into microchips, paper airplanes into drones, and kites into satellites,” she remarked.
Her address came during the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), where she urged global leaders to focus on the opportunities’ technology offers future generations.
“Remember, our next generation will use tech to revolutionize how we live, travel, design, and connect,” she told delegates.
According to the initiative’s framework, the first phase of Fostering the Future Together will pursue four objectives.
These include prioritising the personal development of children, unifying international efforts around the intersection of children, technology, and education, and collaborating with the private sector to broaden access to innovative education technologies such as artificial intelligence, robotics, and blockchain.
The coalition will also facilitate the exchange of solutions to both harness the advantages and address the risks associated with artificial intelligence.
Membership of the coalition will be drawn from the spouses—or equivalent representatives—of heads of government.
Each member nation will be responsible for implementing the programme locally in line with its own education and technology framework.
U.S. First Lady also announced that the inaugural meeting of Fostering the Future Together will be held at the White House during the first quarter of 2026, bringing together member representatives to advance the coalition’s goals.
