HIGH-LEVEL diplomatic engagement at the Ministry of Trade and Investment in Abuja has brought together envoys from the Netherlands, Russia, Mexico, and China to advance Nigeria’s international economic cooperation agenda.

The meeting, hosted by the Honourable Minister of Trade and Investment, Dr Jumoke Oduwole, formed part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which places global partnerships at the centre of Nigeria’s economic transformation strategy.

Their discussions focused on strengthening bilateral ties and identifying new opportunities for collaboration in priority sectors, including trade facilitation, investment promotion, technology transfer, infrastructure development, and capacity building.

Also, the ministry reaffirmed its commitment to creating a competitive and investor-friendly business environment, encouraging innovation and entrepreneurship, driving inclusive economic growth through strategic partnerships, and building an integrated and efficient global trade ecosystem.

Dr Oduwole stated that, under President Tinubu’s leadership, Nigeria is working to secure sustainable growth through international partnerships that extend beyond capital inflow to include skills transfer, infrastructure projects, and technology adoption.

She emphasised that such collaborations are vital to positioning Nigeria as a significant player in the global economy.

The envoys also expressed strong support for Nigeria’s reform-driven economic agenda, commending the country’s progress in policy implementation and signalling readiness to expand cooperation in areas such as energy, agriculture, manufacturing, and the digital economy.

They also reaffirmed their commitment to long-term partnerships aimed at mutually beneficial development.

The meeting concluded with a shared pledge to conduct follow-up consultations that will lead to actionable frameworks for cooperation.

Furthermore, the envoy noted that steps will focus on mobilising investments, increasing market access, and reinforcing long-term diplomatic and commercial relations.

Nigeria’s trade ministry also stressed that this outreach demonstrates the country’s growing role as a trusted economic partner and reflects the current administration’s commitment to building alliances that promote national development, job creation, and shared prosperity.
