SUBSCRIBERS ACROSS Nigeria can now access seamless National Identification Number (NIN) services after all mobile network operators fully migrated to the National Identity Management Commission’s upgraded NIN verification platform, known as NINAuth.
The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) confirmed the development in a statement on Wednesday, describing it as a major step toward enhancing digital identity security, ensuring data privacy, and improving service delivery across the telecommunications sector.
Spokesperson Kayode Adegoke stated that the platform now enables uninterrupted NIN verification for mobile users nationwide.
“By migrating to this new platform, telecom firms can now provide uninterrupted verification services to their subscribers,” the statement noted.
NIMC encouraged NIN holders experiencing challenges with SIM registration, SIM swap, SIM migration, or Welcome Back services to contact their respective telecom operators, who are now equipped to resolve such issues via the upgraded system.
The commission emphasised that NINAuth is part of its broader reform strategy to strengthen Nigeria’s digital identity framework.
It added that the platform enhances secure access to identity verification while giving individuals more control over their personal data.
The use of NIN for telecom-related services is driven by national policy directives aimed at linking SIM cards to verified identities as a security measure.
NIMC has since continued to upgrade its systems to support this integration, with the launch of NINAuth representing a key milestone in those efforts.
