DELTA STATE has announced it is marking the second anniversary of the Governor Sheriff Oborevwori administration with the inauguration of 42 road projects across multiple communities, including the continuation of flagship infrastructure initiatives in Warri, Effurun, Ughelli, and other key areas.
During the State of the State address delivered at the House of Assembly in Asaba, Governor Oborevwori highlighted extensive ongoing works such as the dualisation of the Ughelli–Asaba Road (Sectors C1 and C2), construction of the Isheagu/Ewulu Road and Phase I bridge, and the rehabilitation of key urban corridors like Mariere Street in Boji-Boji Agbor.
Other major undertakings include the Kwale–Beneku bridge with approach roads, reconstruction of Orhorhor, Chechester, and Benjamin Oseregbaje roads in Sapele, and vital upgrades to access roads in Effurun and Ekpan.
Additional projects listed cover extensive maintenance in Warri, with the General Hospital Road network receiving rehabilitation, alongside the improvement of Esisi Road and the dual-track revamp of Upper and Lower Erejuwa Roads.
Urban and rural communities across Delta are also set to benefit from the administration’s focus. Kokori, Abraka, Oghara, Akumazi, Boji-Boji Owa, Ellu Town, and Uwheru will see the construction or rehabilitation of internal roads and critical connecting routes.
Strategic repairs and new builds like the Okpolo-Enhwe–Uwheru Road (Phase III), Obi-Ibabu Road at Onicha-Ukwuani, and Okpanam Road upgrades further extend the state’s infrastructural footprint.
Oborevwori outlined further works in Ibusa, Asaba, Sapele, and Udu, including internal roads for the Nigerian Army’s 63 Brigade Headquarters and arterial projects such as the Okirighwre–Benin Road.
Significant rural infrastructure initiatives include Ododegho Road, Ovwodoremor Avenue in Ogor, and remedial works on the old Umutu–Eku Road through Abraka.
Remote riverine communities like Ogbinbiri and Kokodiagbene are also targeted, with slipways and drains being constructed under Phase II works in Kurutie Town.
The governor reaffirmed that the three flyovers and three slipways currently underway in Warri and Effurun are progressing and expected to be commissioned by the first quarter of 2026.
Describing the occasion as the first-ever State of the State Address in Delta’s history, he tied the developmental progress to the MORE agenda, driven by values of transparency, servant leadership, and accountability.
Reflecting on his roadmap presented at inception on 29 May 2023, Oborevwori said the administration’s approach has been anchored in fiscal responsibility, inclusive economic growth, and reforms across civil service and investment ecosystems.
The House of Assembly, in response, passed a vote of confidence in the governor, commending his prudent management of state resources.
The resolution, moved by Deputy Speaker Rt Hon Arthur Akpowowo and seconded by Hon Edafe Emakpor, praised the governor’s strategic vision and commitment to human capital development.
Further commendation came through a separate motion by House Leader Hon Emeka Nwaobi, seconded by Hon Ferguson Onwo, with the Speaker Rt Hon Emomotimi Guwor presiding over a unanimous voice vote.
In closing remarks, the Speaker noted the administration’s achievements as exemplary, citing transformational leadership and fiscal discipline.
