MARKETING MENSTRUAL Hygiene Day 2025, a bold twin-outreach by “Pad Me A Girl Initiative” spotlighted menstrual dignity and period equity at Isolog College in Ogun State and the IDP camp in Durumi, Abuja.

Organised by GATMASH MEDIA, the event, themed “Overcoming The Challenges In 2030,” addressed critical menstrual health gaps through education, counselling, and access to free sanitary materials.

At the Durumi camp, internally displaced girls participated in a transformative experience that combined practical training with deep emotional support.

The outreach taught essential hygiene practices, tackled stigma, and distributed free sanitary pads, hygiene guides, exercise books, and pens.

One-on-one counselling created a safe space for discussion, helping girls regain confidence.

“This is the first time someone talked to me about my period in a kind way. I now understand that it is normal, not a curse,” said 14-year-old Zainab Bature, a resident at the camp.

At Isolog College, Akute, students engaged in a vibrant session driven by open conversations and expert guidance.

Theresa Moses, Convener of the initiative and CEO of GATMASH MEDIA, emphasised that menstruation must never become a barrier to education or ambition.

In her keynote, she stated, “A girl should not miss school, sports, or success because of her period. This initiative is about restoring what was taken from so many girls: dignity.”

Moses outlined the achievements of the initiative, which has distributed over 2,000 sanitary pads and created a “Pad Bank” to provide for IDP camps, schools, and markets.

She reaffirmed the campaign’s mission to make menstrual hygiene accessible as a right, not a luxury.

Guest speaker and media expert, Mrs Amina Omoike, shared personal insights and delivered a relatable, fact-based hygiene talk.

She advised changing pads every 4–6 hours, using clean hands, avoiding harsh products, and wearing breathable fabrics. Urging openness, she said, “You are not alone. Shame dies when we speak.”

Vice Principal of Isolog College, Mrs Ihomuehe Egumah, hailed the programme as a “legacy moment,” expressing gratitude for the confidence and knowledge it sowed among their students.

The outreach concluded with goodwill messages from supporters, including BL Consulting’s Lawal Abiodun Adeyemi and ProStar Sports International’s Paul Maduakor, who both commended the initiative’s real-life impact on future leaders.

Essential supplies handed out at both locations included sanitary pads, educational booklets, writing materials, and access details for the Pad Bank.

The campaign reached over 500 girls and young women, delivering not just materials but lasting empowerment.

“Pad Me A Girl Initiative” remains one of Nigeria’s most impactful menstrual health movements, with over 2,500 girls reached through its ongoing advocacy, education, and sustainable hygiene solutions.
