Rivers Govt Boosts Civil Service Productivity, Commits to Peace Initiatives

RIVERS STATE Government has expressed its dedication to enhancing civil service operations to align with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda.

This commitment aims to improve service delivery across the state.

Governor Siminalayi Fubara expressed this vision during a visit from the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, at Government House in Port Harcourt.

He emphasized the need for increased productivity within the civil service, highlighting Mrs. Walson-Jack’s previous contributions to the state.

Fubara pointed out the changes his administration has implemented, particularly regarding the promotion of civil servants who have met their eligibility criteria.

He underscored the importance of functional training, noting that the last major training opportunity for civil servants occurred in 2010.

He aims to provide modern training programmes to boost the capabilities of state employees.

Mrs. Walson-Jack responded positively, assuring her support for initiatives that will help the Rivers State Government meet its objectives.

She emphasized her focus on capacity building, promoting transparency, and fostering citizen engagement.

Additionally, she commended Fubara’s leadership style.

The Governor shared exciting news about Rivers State’s upcoming role as host for the Federation of Public Service Games (FEPSGA) in November 2024 and the 2024 meeting of the Joint Public Service Negotiating Council.

Mrs. Walson-Jack expressed her enthusiasm for these events, noting they will enhance the state’s reputation as a hub for national activities and showcase its commitment to excellence.

Fubara Restates Commitent to Peace in the State

In a separate event, Governor Fubara reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to fostering peace, which he believes is crucial for the state’s development and growth.

He made this pledge during the 2024 International Day of Peace celebration at Government House in Port Harcourt.

During a road walk promoting peace, Governor Fubara met with members of the International Association of World Peace Advocates, Eminent Peace Ambassadors, Rivers State Chapter.

The Head of Service, Dr. George Nwaeke, stressed the need for citizens to advocate for peace, especially during challenging times.

Juliet Wokocha, the Director of the International Association of World Peace Advocates, commended the governor for aligning the event with the 2024 United Nations theme, “Cultivating a Culture of Peace.”

She pledged to support Fubara and praised his ability to manage political challenges in the state.
