GOVERNOR SHERIFF Oborevwori has reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to public safety on Thursday, pledging continued support for security agencies battling kidnapping and violent crime across the state.
Speaking at Government House, Asaba, during the swearing-in of Dr Minnie Oseji as Head of Service and the inauguration of Pastor Austin Igbine as Chairman of the Delta Printing and Publishing Company Board, Oborevwori praised the success of recent “pre-emptive strikes and combat operations” by law enforcement.
“As the Chief Security Officer of the State, I am aware of the various successes the security agencies have achieved, and continue to achieve,” he said.
“They remain unrelenting, and our government continues to strengthen partnerships by providing them with the necessary tools and resources to enhance their effectiveness,” he adds.
He stressed the importance of collective responsibility in tackling insecurity. “Security is a shared responsibility,” he said, urging residents to remain vigilant and supportive of state efforts.
The Governor used the occasion to thank former Head of Service, Mr Reginald Bayoko, for what he described as “outstanding contributions to the state’s public service,” and welcomed Dr Oseji, whom he called “dedicated, brilliant, and thorough.”
Oborevwori tasked her with reshaping a workforce too often hindered by lax attitudes, sharp practices, and poor maintenance culture.
“This administration is determined to leave a legacy of an efficient, disciplined, and performance-driven civil service,” he stated. “The civil service is filled with qualified and intelligent individuals. However, issues regarding attitude and orientation persist.”
In her remarks, Dr Oseji pledged to uphold the principles of professionalism and accountability, promising a renewed focus on compliance with financial regulations and a commitment to the Governor’s MORE Agenda. “No one will be left behind,” she assured.

Pastor Austin Igbine was also charged with building upon the foundation laid by his predecessor as he assumes leadership of the board overseeing The Pointer newspaper.
Oborevwori expressed confidence in Igbine’s ability to strengthen the state’s media platform through transparency and innovation.
