According to Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun, this development brings the total number of rescued students to 21.

The students were abducted on May 9, 2024, while studying for their upcoming exams within the CUSTECH campus. William Aya, the Commissioner of Police for Kogi State, announced the latest rescue effort in a statement on Thursday.

“The diligence and indomitable spirit of the combined team led to the rescue of an additional seven victims, bringing the total to twenty-one,” Aya stated. He emphasized the need for collective effort to apprehend the perpetrators and ensure the safety of all students.

Aya expressed the state government’s and the school management’s satisfaction with the progress made by the police and other security forces. The rescue operation includes a coordinated unit comprising a helicopter crew, monitoring team, and a Technical Intelligence Unit (TIU).

The Commissioner also thanked the security forces, local vigilantes, and others who have collaborated in the rescue mission. As the search for the remaining abducted students continues, the commitment to bring those responsible to justice remains steadfast.
