NIGERIA’s ELECTORAL commission has announced it has formally opened the process for its 2025 Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, urging all eligible citizens to engage actively ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced the rollout via its verified social media channels and public platforms, reaffirming its commitment to transparent, inclusive electoral participation across the country.
INEC says the CVR will begin with an online pre-registration phase starting 18 August 2025 through the commission’s official portal at https://cvr.inecnigeria.org, followed by in-person registration from 25 August at designated centres nationwide.
According to the commission, the registration exercise targets new voters, citizens requiring updates to their information, and Nigerians displaced from their usual locations.
INEC therefore appeals to all Nigerians for early participation and cautioned against electoral inducements.
The agency said online pre-registration will enable applicants to enter their personal details and schedule appointments before proceeding for biometric capture at physical centres.
The on-site registration will operate from 9:00am to 3:00pm, Monday through Friday, across all INEC Local Government Area offices and designated additional locations.

INEC also reiterated the democratic significance of voter registration, noting: “Your vote starts with registration. Don’t miss your opportunity to register.”
To support the exercise, the commission provided multiple access points for assistance, including its call centre (0700-2255-4632), short code (4632), direct hotlines (09050858629, 09050858675, 09050858649), and official emails at iccc@inec.gov.ng.
It says information will also be available on www.inecnigeria.org and www.inecnews.com.
Reaffirming its electoral mandate, INEC encouraged wide participation, particularly among first-time voters, and assured Nigerians of fairness, accessibility, and transparency throughout the registration window.
The commission added: “INEC, making your votes count… Consolidating our democracy.”
