OPERATION OF Kled AI in Nigeria have ceased following the detection of widespread fraudulent activity on its platform.
JKNewsMedia.com reports that the United States (US) based data marketplace confirmed it removed its application from the Nigerian app store and imposed an IP ban across the country.
Kled AI, founded in 2025, operates as a human data marketplace designed to connect everyday consumers with artificial intelligence companies seeking high quality training data.
The platform also rewards users for uploading photos, videos and other multimodal content.
Its founder, Avi Patel, stated that the decision followed months of monitoring activity from Nigeria, where the company recorded a fraud rate of about 95 percent, adding that the organisation said the scale of abuse rendered continued operations unsustainable.
The platform had paid out hundreds of thousands of dollars within four months before identifying the extent of the fraudulent submissions.
Patel disclosed that contributors submitted black screens, duplicate files, internet generated images and AI generated images in large volumes.
He added that some users uploaded mass produced fake Japanese passports bearing photoshopped Nigerian faces during the Know Your Customer verification process.

“We have removed Kled from the Nigerian app store and IP banned the entire region,” Patel said. “After several months of uploads, we found that Nigeria had a ≈95% fraud rate.
“Instead of real, usable data, users were uploading pictures of black screens, duplicate photos, internet generated images, AI generated images, etc. at an unimaginable scale.”
Patel compared the figures with activity in other countries, stating that Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines recorded less than 10 percent fraud rates despite having ten times the user base size.
He indicated that the suspension remains temporary as the company works on stronger detection systems.
Reactions among Nigerians varied, with some acknowledging fraud in similar online schemes, while others said they were unaware of the platform and described the announcement as a publicity move.
