ROAD INFRASTRUCTURE in Ogun State has seen remarkable expansion, with approximately 1,000 kilometres of roads constructed since 2019.
Governor Dapo Abiodun reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sustained infrastructural growth while commissioning the newly completed 3.12-kilometre Oke-Erinja-Ilobi road in Yewa South Local Government Area.
Addressing the community at the commissioning, Abiodun assured residents that the road would soon extend further into Ilobi, aligning with his administration’s broader objective of enhancing connectivity and economic development across rural areas.
He stressed the strategic importance of road infrastructure in boosting agricultural production and ensuring an efficient food supply chain.
“The Ilobi and Oke-Erinja regions are key agricultural hubs in Ogun State. By prioritising their roads, we are reinforcing our commitment to fostering economic growth and improving rural accessibility,” Abiodun stated.
New Road Construction Plans Unveiled
Governor Abiodun also revealed plans to commence work on the Sango-Ijoko-Akute road within the week, recognising it as a crucial link for residents and businesses.
He noted that existing rehabilitation efforts on the Akute-Ajuwon, Alagbole-Ajuwon, Giwa-Oke-Aro, and Alagbole-Akute roads would be incomplete without addressing the Sango-Ijoko-Akute corridor.
Further highlighting the administration’s dedication to infrastructural advancement, he confirmed that ongoing work on the Agbara-Atan-Lusada road remains on track.
Additionally, he announced an imminent joint inspection of the Inter-Change-Papalanto-Obelle road with billionaire industrialist Alhaji Aliko Dangote.
The project, funded through tax credits, is expected to accelerate industrial and economic activities in the region.
Community Leaders Applaud
During the event, Governor Abiodun extended his appreciation to the Olu of Ilaro and Chairman of the Ogun State Council of Obas, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle, alongside other traditional rulers and community leaders, for their support in the execution of developmental projects.
He reiterated his administration’s resolve to deliver on its promises, ensuring sustainable growth across the state.
Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Ade Akinsanya, highlighted the socio-economic benefits of the completed road, emphasising its role in easing access to the Nigeria Police Training College and promoting local development.
He recalled the road’s previous dilapidated state, expressing confidence that its reconstruction would provide much-needed relief to residents and commuters.
Oba Kehinde Olugbenle commended the governor’s contributions to Ogun West’s development and urged for an extension of the Oke-Erinja-Ilobi road project to further enhance connectivity and economic prospects in the region.
