LATE NIGHT snacking can support better sleep and stable blood sugar when the right foods are chosen, with dietitians identifying a mix of pistachios and dried tart cherries as the healthiest option, dieticians have said,

Also, registered dietitians, JKNewsMedia.com reports, state that the combination provides protein, healthy fats and fibre while supplying natural melatonin, making it suitable for overnight recovery and sustained satiety.

The nutrition experts explain that late night snacks should curb hunger without causing blood sugar spikes and should also support restful sleep.

In particular, they pointed that Pistachios and Tart cherries meet both needs by delivering balanced nutrients and sleep supporting compounds.

Jackie Newgent, a registered dietitian nutritionist and plant forward chef, describes the blend as a “snooze mix” that is “easy, tasty, and free of stimulants,” noting its effectiveness as a simple bedtime option.

The detitians highlight that pistachios contain protein, healthy fats and fibre, which help prevent blood sugar dips that may disrupt sleep.

Also, Sapna Peruvemba, a registered dietitian, states that this balance “helps promote satiety and keep blood sugar levels more stable overnight.”

Tart cherries, they declare, provide a natural source of melatonin, the hormone that regulates the sleep wake cycle, while nuts supply magnesium, a mineral linked to relaxation.

The experts note that the snack avoids common late-night disruptors such as caffeine and added sugar, while remaining portion friendly and manageable.

They also add that the combination can be adapted, including adding pumpkin seeds for more magnesium, increasing nuts for higher protein, or choosing unsweetened dried cherries for portion control.
