EDITORS FROM across the country will gather in Abuja from 3 to 6 November 2025 for the All Nigeria Editors Conference, which President Bola Tinubu will formally declare open.
The Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE) confirmed the development in a statement jointly signed by its President, Eze Anaba, and General Secretary, Onuoha Ukeh.
The Guild also announced that the conference, scheduled to hold in the Federal Capital Territory, will focus on the theme “Democratic Governance and National Cohesion: The Role of Editors.”
A sub-theme will address “Electoral Integrity and Trust Deficit: What Nigerians Expect in 2027” as indicated in a release signed for the NGE by Eze Anaba, President and Onuoha Ukeh, General Secretary on 21st September, 2025.
According to the statement, the conference will examine how editors can strengthen democratic governance and national cohesion.
It will also address challenges confronting the media in promoting unity and inclusivity, while outlining best practices that can enable editors to contribute to democratic values across Nigeria’s diverse population.
The Guild highlighted that President Tinubu, leaders of opposition political parties and other stakeholders have consistently emphasised the importance of media support in promoting national unity.
The statement also noted that in the face of current socio-economic challenges, inclusivity, dialogue and shared values remain crucial to sustaining cohesion.
The opening ceremony will be attended by President Tinubu, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barrister Nyesom Wike, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, as well as other ministers, governors, members of the diplomatic corps and representatives of the organised private sector.
The programme will also feature a keynote address on the theme and a series of paper presentations.
Topics include “Election Disputes and Judicial Integrity: Navigating the Thin Line Between Law and Politics”, “State of the Nation: Imperative of Economic and Political Reforms in Challenged Nation”, “The Evolving Face of Journalism: Battling Misinformation, AI Disruption, and Credibility Gap”, “Media, Terrorism, and National Security: Addressing the Complexities” and “Wealth Beyond the Newsroom: Investment Opportunities for Editors After Call of Duty.”
The Guild disclosed that more than 500 media professionals from Nigeria and abroad will participate in the conference.
This will be the second time in twelve years that the Federal Capital Territory is hosting the annual gathering.
According to the Guild, the conference provides editors with a platform to deliberate on critical national issues with social, economic and political impact.
The 2025 edition, it added, is designed to encourage responsible journalism and accountability while fostering national development and unity.
The statement recalled that the conference follows the Guild’s Biennial National Convention in Enugu State, where new executives were elected four months earlier.
